Commissioned Handmade Map
Do you have a favorite location? In this world or one imagined? Whether you’re looking to display a memory or build a new world in literature or gaming, maps unlock and preserve far off places.
From working with customers to create a piece of art to showcase some of their favorite locations to working with authors to bring their imagined worlds to life, mapmaking and cartography are where the world of geography combines with art in beautiful detail.
Each map is drawn and painted completely by hand, the old-fashioned way; traditional paper, pencil, pen, and paint. No digital renderings or design is used. For authors bringing their imagined worlds into the pages of stories, digital versions are provided along with the original work.
You can find my artwork published in the written works of Melanie Cellier, Brittany Fichter, Deborah Grace White and more .
Please use this contact link to email me with details about your map. I’d love to chat prior to your purchase and provide you with a realistic timeline of expectation.
Keep in mind when considering what size to choose from, that there is more to the decision than overall cost. The larger the map the more locations, landmarks, and fine detail I am able to incorporate. For fantasy world building and moderate to high amounts of real life landmarks I recommend 12x18 or 16x20 minimum, 18x24 or 22x30 for maximum amount of detail. In these sizes I am able to bring all of your elements to life without overcrowding a smaller area. If you are an author, I take these general sizes and resize them to your page size ratio.
Current production time is approximately 6-8 weeks.
Fantasy maps do come at an increase in price due to the art of designing a fictional landscape, environments, and structures compared to a real location where landmarks and landscapes are already established.
Please remember that these are original handmade artworks, not digital art; editing is limited to maintain the quality of the paper and ideal production time. Fantasy map creation includes 3 edits after initial layout is approved, before beginning the ink phase. Additional edits incur a $25 fee per edit, change, addition, or alteration. Changes during the ink phase are not recommended unless minor. Major alterations may require an additional redesign fee.
International orders: VAT taxes, duties, and fees may apply when purchasing international goods, and vary according to your country’s laws for imports. Please do your research so you are prepared for any fees that map apply to release your product from customs.
